Hi Mark,
You did a pretty good job with this article. I have written about my field many times, and have probably not made too many friends. I am a franchise consultant, and I DO make most of my income from franchise companies who pay me a finder's fee for placing franchise candidates into their franchises.

There are way too many franchise brokers out there, and a lot of them are new, and were sold a bill of good about how much money they'll make etc. 95% have NO experience in franchising.

One really important thing that I'll add: Work with an experienced (2 years or more+ and FROM the franchise industry) broker who LIVES IN YOUR CITY. Would you try to buy a home from a Realtor who lives 500 miles away, and couldn't possibly know your area, and it's unique needs? Or care?

Work with a LOCAL franchise broker. Keep the money flowing in YOUR neighborhood, not the out of town, "Only work with you on the phone-not face to face" brokers.

Chosing the right franchise is difficult. A good comparison is when you plan to buy a house and you don't know how to do that. So, you seek the advice of a professional who can help you find your ideal home, in the right area, for the right price. A capable franchise broker can assist you in same way, helping you find a franchise that's a good fit. This Article really opened my eyes on the dangers of NOT going with a good franchise broker.
